Meet Brennan Bastyovanszky

Brennan Bastyovanszky

Brennan Bastyovanszky is a current Park Board Commissioner and is joining the Vancouver Liberals team. Brennan brings proven governance experience and a strong record of advocacy during one of the most politically and financially challenging periods in the Park Board’s recent history. He is the former Chair of the Park Board who stood up to Ken Sim when he announced his intentions to abolish the democratically elected Park Board.

In his professional life, Brennan has two decades of senior experience in sales, marketing, and risk advisory, including nine years in global travel risk management. That background shows up in how he governs: structured thinking, stakeholder management, and a focus on solutions that actually function in the real world.

Brennan is deeply involved in community sport and recreation, including grassroots rugby and tennis. He is passionate about equitable access to parks, fields, and facilities. Brennan is someone who values long walks in our beautiful city, well-run public spaces, and neighbourhoods that feel human and connected.

Brennan knows that Vancouver needs people who actually know how City Hall works. Along with his growing team of colleagues, he supports the Vancouver Liberals’ Park Board plan because it treats parks and recreation as essential civic infrastructure.

As a member of the Vancouver Liberals, Brennan wants to bring his knowledge, experience, and realistic approach to create a Vancouver that functions, evolves, and serves everyone fairly over the long term. Brennan is running to help solve problems. He believes Vancouver can be progressive and well-run. He knows the Vancouver Liberals can deliver what residents deserve: leadership that treats public office as a responsibility, not a stage.
