    A Promise to Vancouver

    Vancouver has a problem. Our population is aging, and young people are being pushed out of the city by high living costs and a lack of meaningful work opportunities. Every day, we slide further into becoming a playground for the wealthy. Meanwhile, the Mayor focused on vanity projects, dismantling our elected Park Board, chasing bitcoin billionaires, and suing his political critics.

    It’s time for City Hall to get serious. Vancouver needs a Mayor who respects the real priorities of the people they serve. Our promise to the citizens of Vancouver is simple:

    If it doesn’t help working families, if it doesn’t help seniors, if it doesn’t help students and young people entering the work force – we’re not going to do it. Period.

    Meet Kareem Allam

    The Vancouver Liberals are pleased to introduce Kareem Allam, who has announced his intention to seek our nomination for Mayor of Vancouver in the 2026 civic election.

    A lifelong Vancouverite, Kareem has spent more than 25 years engaged in Municipal, Provincial, and Federal governance. Currently a partner at Richardson Strategy Group, he is a former Director of Public Policy at the Vancouver Board of Trade and has held several senior Indigenous Relations roles on major infrastructure projects. Kareem’s public service spans some of the region’s most critical institutions. He has served on the boards of the Fraser Health Authority and the BC College of Massage Therapists, contributing to decisions that directly affect community health and professional standards. He has also helped shape regional policy through roles with the TransLink Screening Panel, the Canada Border Services Agency’s Pacific Commercial Committee, and the Metro Vancouver Integrated Utility Management Committee—always bringing a practical, solutions-focused approach 
     

    Kareem and his wife, Heidi, along with their dog Oliver, have lived in Yaletown for 20 years.

    “I want to run for mayor because I think I can do a better job [than the current Mayor],” Kareem Allam recently told Business in Vancouver. “I love this city and I’m not happy with its direction.”
